Tolkien Linked Open Data Project

Welcome to the Tolkien Linked Open Data Project

We are working on referencing, indexing, and linking between Tolkien-related texts, people, places, and events in both the primary and secondary world across online projects, scholarly works, archives, media, and more.

Our aim is to achieve greater connectivity between projects and greater accessibility to data to facilitate collaboration with Tolkien studies in new and more powerful ways.

Read more about the initial concept.

Who are we?

Our team includes people from the Digital Tolkien Project, the Tolkien Gateway, the Tolkien Collector’s Guide as well as individual scholars, librarians, archivists, and enthusiasts.

If you have Tolkien-related data you would like to contribute or if you would like to be involved in the project in some other way, please contact us.

We are particularly interested in journal editors, book publishers, artists, and content creators interested in incorporating metadata about their works into the linked data graph. (See Linking Secondary Material)

What is Linked Open Data?

Another video will follow soon with more details about the project itself.
